Cargo & Waves: Redesigning a Port Building

This project reimagines a 3-story Soviet-era building in the port city of Poti, Georgia, converting it into a contemporary maritime terminal. The design pays homage to the port’s industrial identity by incorporating shipyard-inspired elements,
such as repurposed container doors as retail counters and cargo-container facades for the reception desk. A dynamic wave-like ceiling installation flows onto the walls, mirroring the rhythm of the sea in the waiting area.
References used
Industrial meets ocean: Metal finishes, exposed pipes, and cargo-container textures.
Color zones: Bright colors marked different areas (later simplified to clean white).
Wave feature: A flowing ceiling/wall design that mimics water movement.
Though the final execution opted for a simplified, monochrome palette, select conceptual elements (e.g., the wave motif and container details) were preserved, bridging the gap between bold vision and pragmatic design.
